Ethical rules for dialogue and negotiations with decision-makers

Dialogue and negotiations with politicians, officials and authorities are a natural and integral part of the pharmaceutical industry’s communication with its surroundings. All collaboration and communication activities within the pharmaceutical industry – including those involving dialogue and negotiations with authorities and politicians – must be transparent and comply with certain minimum requirements.

Therefore, the pharmaceutical industry has committed itself, through an ethical code, to ensuring independence and transparency in its communication with politicians and authorities. The code also prohibits, for example, giving gifts to civil servants, politicians, and similar stakeholders.
